Artifact
Artifact, all the looks and feel of an ancient element with mysterious shape. What it is?
You can answer to whoever asks: An Artifact.
Made to be a focal element Artifact's focal element was buried for Years, three?... maybe more, yes, buried in the ground and subject to all the natural process of it causing color changes, patinas, all as with ancient excavated elements. It is a stoneware form which sole purpose of creation was this moment, when out of the ground, cleaned, explored, was its time to "become".
As collector of ancient beads and artifacts had always been my passion how time and different conditions alter elements and among all the experimentation/exploration of materials, forms, patinas, ancient techniques this has been a way to create natural interesting patinas in several pieces.
Like a wine requires years to be clear, ready, natural patinas do to, just need patience. Copper turns leather brown when hang for months exposed to the weather before turning greenish or bluish depending of the area, salt on the air, etc. while bone turns white!!! OMG, It is So Much to Explore!!!
In this piece, time and expossure aged what you see, is No paint, no artificial colors, no pigments, just the stoneware, the water on the soil, salts, years.
As companions I could use some wild rough stones and make it totally cavepeople worthy but it seemed more interesting adding beads with a touch of refined character yet with a rustic flair.
Stranded in bronze, a bold large copper chain and a large sort of clip clasp close it to the back of the neck.
For measurements, the pictures where Artifact rests on a bust show its real size, how it would look on you, how bold it is since it is a real size human mannequin.
