I love textures, the sensorial experience and visual landscape where to travel with the senses awake; how a texture feels, how it looks like. I remember a memorable woman that used to taste the beads, smell them, integrate -anyway I don't suggest to really taste beads, specially very old ones like Mummy beads, ehem- Among the things I covet are textures. Textures to work with stoneware, textures to play with metal clays, textures to merge into designs like this one with natural sea urchin texture formed on a stoneware surface and aged.
I made it few summers ago when I was discovering pottery and rare kinds of clay from remote places. Life is constant growth, isn't it? Constant discovery, change. Sometimes I joke "So much to do and learn and just one life!!!" anyway I also joke saying that I believe in transmigration so I will save some things I want to learn for the next life. :) 
The base, SOLID copper thick wire had been soldered -high heat soldering- to a silver plated piece ex-plate -thick- cut and sanded and formed to be what you see (Gosh, I have way too much fun at the studio, so much that maybe should be illegal, LOL) and the stoneware textured element was set on it in a piece that maybe archeologists will find after we all are gone. Yeah, That strong. Anyway remember is stoneware, hum... like a thick strong dinnerware material, and if you put the necklace off and toss it across the room, archeologists might probably find the copper and silver plate setting skeleton. Ha!
