Electric Dreams

Kurt sometimes sends me some amazing elements that are a challenge for the imagination, the long electrical ceramic tubular piece is one. I used one before, they feel almost daunting and at same time intriguing... Elements like this always made me remember an African piece I had on my hands long long ago in which the artisan added not just the surrounding treasures like bones and shells, that known objects but also things that were surprising and opened windows in my mind: Plastic buttons made with bottle caps. How what is around us can be transformed in art? How important daily elements can become, what for me was something to put into the recycling bin for this artisan was something unusual that worth room on his/her work.

On this piece, that electrical element, maybe something to put in a recycling bin for others, shares the piece with black agatized coral and solid Sterling... It is magical enough to join it with precious metals and a rare fossil, just like the African artisan. The velvety rustic white contrasts with the mate softly textured agatized black coral, embraced for solid Sterling in an unusual, tribal, primal focal element with a hand crafted chain wrapped freely that ends in a couple of sterling set small raw orange Kyanite spikes.

To the top, white druze geode pieces, pearls and diminute vintage glass beads from India contrast in shine and textures with the volcanic black lava in a black, white and silver composition that ends again in white small vintage glass beads soft for the neck and hand crafted silver chain.

Bold, intense, rustic, timeless, no light weight, brutal and anyway, almost sober.

For measurements, the pictures where the piece rests on the bust show you the real dimensions, this is a real human size mannequin -not a jewelry bust- so it shows how it could look on you.

It measures in length total 18 1/2 inches
