I have moments when inspired by who knows what I decide to make my own elements to be used in the pieces I make, a way to go a millimeter more to the "One of a Kind" principle. I make most of my flat stock from scratch, melt metal into ingots and then Work and work and work until they are as thin as I need them... and also make most of my wire from scratch -except for the thinner ones that would require a lot of "womanpower" -Or is it still "Manpower"? Hum, I don't know- and weeks of work- and modify beads, stones, everything on my path.
In this case, the abalone discs were cut from a huge abalone shell by myself, shaped and polished to a semi-mate shine. It is a matter of principle... like this earrings name.
 
Ear wires are soldered at the back adding stability.
 
Large but not excessive, these one of a kind earrings are not heavy but are bold. You can see their size from the pictures where they are on a standard sized business card, aside a USA quarter coin and a carpenter's ruler.
