Seals

$185.00Price

When polymer arts hit the museums, it was time for me to give a new look to this old friend with which I experimented time ago. It started with sea urchin spikes!!! How brittle they can be -more than ceramics- when in larger sizes and how much I wanted some... and experimenting became fun, exhilarating, recreated copal amber, Tibetan ancient turquoise, would glass, ancient bone... comparing my experiments with the real beads, colors, textures, learning how they were made.

All opened the door to pieces like this, Old Inuit carvings -I love the carved bone seals, so, I made them...- and Upper Asia old turquoise carved beads, amazing variation of colors, some with hints of translucence, all of them with patinas, cracks, dents... all recreated from original pieces which cost for sale would be a 4 figures number. Like this, ancient coexists with durability and affordability, all keeping almost intact the original beauty we crave.

Seals has as a plus a detachable cascade ending, the round pendant has a copper small lobster clasp that clasps in a small almost invisible loop at the end of one of this carved seals, which changes the look and makes it more fun to wear.

The beads? Had been made one by one, carving, modeling, adding textures, experimenting, exploring patinas and pigments. None is identical, nor even similar.

It measures around the neck 23 inches approx.

The pictures where the piece rests on the bust show how bold, long and how it sits on the neck and sternum since it is a real human size mannequin.
